Professional Nominees
- Must be a professional member in good standing
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree and six months of full-time work experience or graduate studies before the start of the term.
Board Position Descriptions
- Be the official chapter contact with SHPE Nationals and with SHPE Region 6
- Lead EBOD, general and special meetings
- Provide direction and strategic vision for the chapter to enhance cohesiveness of group, establish relationships with other professional organizations, and provide a forum for discussion and planning.
- Represent the chapter to attract new corporate sponsors and advocate for the interest of the sponsors.
- Have full power in appointment or dismissal of any committee chair and may create or dissolve ad hoc committees, subject to the approval of the majority of the EBOD
- Be one of the two people (the other being the Treasurer) responsible for signing any documents related to financial matters, i.e., proposals, checks, etc.
- Be in charge of becoming president if needed
- Co-Chair meetings in absence of the President
- Assists the President and EBOD in business concerning the chapter
- Be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing Professional Development activities for the Chapter.
- Serve as the financial officer for the board and the Indiana Professional Chapter of SHPE.
- Collect dues
- Disperses funds
- Manage chapter bank account
- Prepare financial reports to share with board, membership and others as needed
- Transfer all financial reports to the succeeding Treasurer within 30 days of term change

- Maintain internal communication for SHPE EBOD and to the Regional board as needed.
- Verify chapter’s calendar of events is current.
- Coordinate chapter meetings, including sending the final agenda, setting up locations and times, and recording and distributing meeting minutes and action items
- Maintain all official records of the Chapter and manage Chapter Cloud storage.
- Serve all notices required by law or the Bylaws of the Chapter, including NRP.
- Coordinate the election of officers.
- Coordinate on-boarding and off-boarding of EBOD members within 30 days of the term change.
- Maintain the official membership roster.
- Implement a plan for reaching chapter growth goals and objectives.
- Plan and run events for the recruitment and retaining of chapter members.
- Ensure general public awareness of the benefits of SHPE membership.
- Maintain the membership roster of paid members (coordinate with Secretary)
- Manage and execute external communications: social media channels, email communications, etc.
- Manage Chapter email inbox: shpe.indiana@gmail.com
- Develop and post content of quarterly newsletters (coordinate with Community Outreach)
- Maintain and operate the website (coordinate with VP of Marketing and Corporate Relations)
- Update the master contact list of members, university chapters, sponsors, and local partners

- Be responsible for developing and coordinating activities to raise funds, increase brand awareness and improve membership.
